Catholicism 101 – Whats the Issue with Same Sex Marriage?
October 20, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Get back to basics with Catholicism 101, a monthly catechesis evening for young adults (aged 18-35). Each month is presented by a different speaker and held in the beautiful Chapter Hall across from St Mary’s Cathedral, following City Silence.
Join us and our 3 panelists as we examine the issue of same sex ‘marriage’ from a religious, legal and experiential perspective. and what the Church says on the issue. Never before has Society been so obsessed with an issue as it has SSM, but why does every person have an opinion on the topic and as a Catholic what should you know and how can you respond?
Take some time to educate yourself by hearing from 3 extremely learned people on the topic, Fr Dan McCaughan who completed his licentiate in same sex attraction, Monica Doumit who works for Catholic Talk and will look at the legal ramifications of SSM and James Parker who lived and practiced as a gay rights activist but now works with abused men and speaks regularly on topics to do with same-sex attraction and SSM. Don’t miss this great opportunity to learn and to ask the tough questions.
Tuesday 20 October at 7:30pm in the Chapter Hall, just across form St Mary’s Cathedral. A light supper is provided and while you are there join us for City Silence from 6:30pm in the Cathedral.
